KINDERGARTNERS COLLECT FOR BSO RELIEF DRIVE

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue Lt. James Shetter (right), takes a bag of collected goods from Shane Meyer, five , at Weston Fire Station #81 Friday afternoon. Meyer’s kindergarten teacher Suzette Kishman had her students at Silver Ridge Elementary in Davie bring in food, clothing and badly needed emergency relief supplies for hurricane victims in Haiti and the Caribbean. Meyer, his seven-year-old brother Shane and mother Jennifer brought the classes’ donations to the firehouse as a truckload of supplies was loaded up by BSO firefighters to go to the Food For The Poor warehouse in Coconut Creek.

On Tuesday, Broward Sheriff Al Lamberti and Food For The Poor Executive Director Angel Aloma announced the community-based relief efforts with the delivery of over 1,000 cases of meals-ready-to-eat. Selected fire stations and law enforcement district offices are accepting the donations for the next two and a half weeks.
