Introducing BSO’s New Mascot

Michael Joseph Hasty, a fifth-grader from McNab Elementary School, is the first place winner of BSO’s “Win Lunch with Quiggley” essay writing contest! He and the rest of his class were treated to a pizza party and visit from Quiggley on Wednesday, December 10. Michael’s winning essay focused on ways he stays safe at home and at school. Colonel Ed Werder, who presented Michael with his first place certificate, noted Michael’s emphasis on the safety of others before himself. The second place winner of the contest is third-grader Ruby Mojica from Tedder Elementary School and third place went to fifth-grade student Kyler Pace from Quiet Waters Elementary School. Quiggley was developed by the Broward Sheriff’s office to use as a tool to teach children about fire safety, internet safety, drug awareness and how to stand up to bullies.
